FIRST OS UPDATE OF '03

Sorry for the late update today. The Official Site updated for the first time in the year 2003 today, and oh boy was there some great news today!
The main update of the day was the Series II DVD menu screens. Similar to the menu screens of the Series I DVD, but they have been modified to fit with Series II. Learn more about them here.

TOS also has news on Norman Lovett's stand-up show. Me and Madge are a bit dissapointed that Liverpool doesn't appear on his tour dates, but we'll probably still catch it. Click here for more.
Kika Mirylees, Dr. Newton in Red Dwarf, and star of ITV's Bad Girls, has a chat with Mr. Flibble, here.
Final update of the day is information on Series 8 hitting Australian screens from tomorrow. Click here.

14th January 2003
INTRO-2

You've probably already heard the news that three Red Dwarf stars; Norman Lovett, Craig Charles, and Danny John-Jules; have been filming a music video with upcoming indie Intro2. There are now rumors going around that (SPOILER - Highlight to read) the soundtrack to Red Dwarf: The Movie will feature the new song (End SPOILER). Click here to see some pics/video clips of the guys in action. From the first video it appears that Norman is in character as Holly. Can't wait for this song to hit TV, and I look forward to seeing Intro2 in action too. The music video will be premiered in early February. We'll keep you updated.

17th January 2003
THE BIG TEASE

If you live in the UK then be sure to turn your TV over to BBC 1 tonight at 11:10 pm for the first terrestrial showing of "The Big Tease", which stars Lister's Confidence, Craig Ferguson, as a Flamboyant Glasgow hairdresser. It should be alot of fun!

MORE WOMAN WIZARD DVD NEWS

Rob Llewellyn's website has updated again with more news on his upcoming WomanWizard DVD. It is a MUST HAVE for all his fans. Cleck out the news here.

Me and Madge will be catching Robert Llewellyn's WomanWizard on Saturday (8th Feb) at the Neptune Theatre in Liverpool so expect our review of his show, and the Series II DVD, later on that week.

3rd February 2003
A WEEK TO GO

With only a week to go until the Series II DVD, I thought I would do a quick recap of the BBFCs ratings of the DVD.
RED DWARF SERIES 2 DVD EXTRAS - PG
RED DWARF - SERIES 2 MODEL SHOTS - U
RED DWARF SERIES 2 TRAILER - U

Although from looking at the DVD sleve for Series II the certificate would appear to be a 12, there is actually a good chance it will now be reduced to a PG. The 12 was probably what the BBC was expecting, but now that it has passed at the BBFC with a PG rating, the BBC will probably lower the DVD's certificate.

Expect my Series II DVD Review to be up on Wednesday 12th February. My Robert Llewellyn's Woman Wizard review will also be up that week so be sure to check back.

3rd February 2003
GROOVY NEWS

Red Dwarf website Groovetown have reported on an interesting topic in their forums. It is worth checking out, but a word of warning that the news is about Red Dwarf: The Movie so SPOILER FREE people way wish to avoid it. Click here to go to the post.

After you've read the news on Groovetown, here's my thoughts: (SPOILER - Highlight to read) Craig Charles has no other known projects in line appart from Red Dwarf: The Movie so the sighting of him filming infront of the café is very probably for Red Dwarf. The fact that it is a normal café which has been converted to an Internet café suggests that the filming is not for anything factual as they wouldn't change that for onscreen. The scene will probably take place at the begining of the movie before Lister boards Red Dwarf. (End SPOILER)
If we get any more info we'll be sure to post it.

7th February 2003
OFFICIAL SITE UPDATES

Another weekly update from the official site. This week on Reddwarf.co.uk, Mr Flibble talks to the Captains 'bit on the side' Sister Talia. To read the interview with actress Heidi Monsen click here.

LLEWELLYN GIVES NEWS AT WOMAN WIZARD

Me and Madge went to see Robert Llewellyn's WONDERFUL comedy, WomanWizard, last night. We won't give you the full details of it yet, me and Madge are busy writing our review of the show so expect it up sometime next week. After his show he gave the audience the chance to ask a few questions, and an interesting news piece came up about Red Dwarf: The Movie. Not all the spaceships in RD:TM will be CGI. Model Makers are busy creating models for many of the key spaceships. This is good news to the fans after their dissapointment at the effects of the Re-mastered episodes and series VII and VIII.
I also got a chance to ask my question about his WomanWizard DVD. There is no set date for it yet because basically he hasn't done it yet. He said that it will be good once it's finished and will have all his best bits from the show on it.
He also gave information on a new series of Scrapheap, and also the date for Hollywood Science to hit our TV screens - 17th March on BBC2.

Check back sometime next week for our review of WomanWizard.

9th February 2003

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

I recieved this piece of news two weeks ago, but I thought I would wait until today to share it. An annonymous man/woman contacted us and told us that like the "Alternate Personalities" and "Drunk" featurettes on the Series I and II DVDs, there will also be a "Love" featurette in one of the upcoming DVDs. It will show clips from all 8 series of the crew falling in love, snogging, and all their sexual antics. We look forward to that one.

AINT IT SMEGGING COOL OR WHAT!!!

Just a quick update with some AMAZING news that couldn't wait until later. Head over to Aint It Cool News at this link for the first major update of Red Dwarf: The Movie, the teaser poster! Well worth a check out. I will have a full report up about this later when I have the time to write it, but check it out here for now.

27th February 2003
MOVIE UPDATE

As reported before, Aint It Cool News brought us the Teaser Poster and another Red Dwarf advertisement. Here's our full report on the news:

The poster looks quite cool, and just seeing it gives me the tingles. The poster is still labled with "Coming Soon" so there is still no set date for the release of the movie. Although reported as Autumn 2003 time by Official sourses, I think a 2004 release would be more realistic.

This other advetrtisement is cool too, and gives people information on Red Dwarf items available for sale including books, DVDs, the Fan Club, and more. The most interesting thing on it though is the Plot Synopsis:
(SPOILER - Highlight to read)
RED DWARF THE MOVIE is set in the distant future where Homo Sapienoids - a fearsome combination of flesh and machine - have taken over the solar system and almost wiped out the human race. The only survivors are the crew of long-haul space freighters that left Earth before the conflict began. The Sapienoids send four fleets of Death Ships to hunt them down.

One by one - the human ships fall, until only one remains.

It's name RED DWARF...

(End SPOILER)
Could these Homo Sapienoids possibly be Rogue Simulants? Perhaps the Bounty Hunter which was reported a couple of months ago is one of these.
Note that on the advertisement Danny John-Jules is listed as appeared in Blade I, which infact he was only in the 2nd Blade movie.
We'll bring you more information as we get it.

27th February 2003

CAST DROP OUT

Some terrible news for Red Dwarf fans now. Craig Charles was on the BBC last night and confirmed the rumors that he no long wants to be in the movie. "I just wasn't happy with the script," he told British audiences, "I've tried to work things out with Doug [Naylor] but we couldn't come to an agreement."
Rumors for possible replacements for Lister's character have already started, including Tom Cruise, Sylvester Stallone, and Craig Bierko (who played him in the US Pilot).
Fans wory that the movie may be delayed further, or perhaps not happen at all. It also decreases the chance of a 9th Series.

CRAIG CHARLES ONLINE COMING SOON

For those who thought the new Craig Charles Online site was getting nowhere, guess again! The old "Coming Soon" page has now been replaced with a new one. This gives the impression that Craig Charle's Official Site will be re-opening soon! Hopefully it'll bring lots of new and juicy Red Dwarf news. Thanks to Jay-Jay for the alert.

18th April 2003
POSSIBLE SERIES VIII DVD EXTRA

Browsing around the web I cam across Red Dwarf - The Other Movie, the site about that excellent fan film which was shown at Dimension Jump 2002. I noticed a news flash on the page, not sure how long it's been there, but I thought it was an interesting bit of info. Helen Norman from Grant Naylor Productions would love to put parts of the fan film on the Series 8 DVD in 2005. This would be a cool extra and many fans would love to see this movie. It's interesting that it says 2005, as if the DVD pattern follows Series 8 should be on our shelves in 2006.

18th April 2003
BIG SMEGGING FANTASTIC NEWS

The Official Website has confirmed that the posters for Red Dwarf: The Movie, posted on Aint It Cool News a couple of weeks ago, were infact genuine, despite many fan sites claiming they were fakes. Head over here for the full story.
That's not the only big news on RedDwarf.co.uk today. It also brings news on the Series III and IV Cast Commentary. Rob and Hattie have now joined the team. Click here for more on that.

Other updates include a Mr. Flibble interview with scriptwriter Paul Alexander, here. And Andrew Ellard makes his TV Writing debut with an episode of Doctors, check that out here.

18th April 2003
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE NEW MOVIE NEWS

RedDwarf.co.uk posted some new news on Red Dwarf: The Movie earlier, but what information on the movie can we actually get from it? Well ofcourse there's the plot synopsis:
RED DWARF THE MOVIE is set in the distant future where Homo Sapienoids, a fearsome combination of flesh and machine, and the next stage of human evolution, have taken over the solar system and almost wiped out the human race.

The only survivors are the crews of long-haul space freighters that left Earth before the conflict began. The Sapienoids send forth fleets of Death Ships to hunt them down. One by one - the human ships fall, until only one remains.

Its name - Red Dwarf...

But the site then tells us the the synopsis "misses the bit where Lister, Rimmer, Cat and Kryten come together." Is this confirming that the movie is set before it all happened?
Also, take a look at this image:

If you see what I see it is the, re-mastered version of the Red Dwarf ship, and it's being blown in two. Does this happen in the movie? Looks probable. Now look closer, towards the left. Do you see a face? Could this be a Sapienoid?

20th April 2003

MORE MOVIE NEWS

Aint It Cool News has more on Red Dwarf: The movie:
(SPOILER - highlight to read) ...while I was working on an Aussie TV film at Pinewood Studios, I bumped into the Chris Barrie double this month during pickup shots for Tomb Raider 2. He said he was about to work on Red Dwarf when Tomb Raider finishes -again as Chris Barrie's double and they are to film at a derelict refinery complex in Oxford towards the west side of the city, which will be the exterior shots of a huge crash site. There will also be filming at a military armoury somewhere in Hampshire that was also used for the last Bond movie. (End SPOILER)
Very interesting stuff. Could this storyboard be part of a scene mentioned above? Check the link about for the whole article.

X-MEN

The sequel to the highly successful X-Men movie is released in the cinema this month (me and Madge are going to see it tomorrow). As you probably know, Patrick Stewart, self confessed Red Dwarf fan and the host of Red Dwarf night, plays Professor Xavier. There is another Red Dwarf actor in X2, guest star Brian Cox (The King in Stoke Me A Clipper) plays a General who's task is the hunt down the X-Men. I'm sure it will be an enjoyable film, I'd recommend it if you get the chance to see it.

SERIES III DVD EXTRA UP AT THE BBFC

Browsing through the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) website, I came across the first extra for the Series III DVD, "Backwards Reversed". It has been classified a PG, and has a running time of 27 minutes and 26 seconds, so it will be the whole episode backwards. This is an extra I've been hoping will be on the DVD, I can't wait to see it! Click here to go to the BBFC.

IS THE SERIES 3 DVD COVER REAL?

The Series III DVD cover, which was first published on The R2 Project, has had mixed thoughts on if it is the real deal or not. With the cover being posted on Blackstar, Ganymede and Titan contacted them to see if they could get an answer. Here's a snippet of what they had to say:
The cover scan that we have is that supplied by the distributor. This is the image that we do have to use and it will remain in place on the site until it is updated.
Very interesting indeed. My thoughts are now heading towards the genuine side. You'll have to hit this link to see what else was said about the cover.

8th May 2003
MYSTERY REVEALED

You'll have to check out Ganymede & Titan for the whole news, but they have got the official word, from Andrew Ellard himself, that the Series III DVD cover is infact a fake.

WHY ISN'T WOMANWIZARD SIGNED

We've been getting e-mailed asking why Robert Llewellyn's WomanWizard DVD didn't come signed. I e-mailed Robert yesterday, and here's what he said:

Danny,
In the panic to get the DVD's out, knowing that a lot of people had been waiting a long time, the notion of signing them just flow out of the window. I plain and simple forgot.
Please be patient and I will send a signed cover as soon as

All the best
Robert Llewellyn

So there we have it, it looks like Rob will be sending out signed covers.

The Arcade section on RedDwarf.co.uk is now open, a little later than planned, but I'm sure the wait was worth it. You can now download the Simulant's Revenge game for your mobile. Unfortunatly my phone won't support the game, but there will be some lucky Red Dwarf fans out there with a top-of-the-range mobile who can play it. Be sure to tell us what you think of it.
G&T have also posted up a link for the Red Dwarf logos which will be up for grabs soon, which my phone WILL support :-D. You cannot order any logos yet though because they haven't been given any codes yet, but keep your eyes open.

25th June 2003
INTRO-2 FILM NEW VIDEO

Remember Intro-2, the band that had Norm and Craig in their music video? We'll they're set to make a new song for an upcoming feature movie, and the video to the song will contain the members of the cast:

Yes you did read that correctly, INTRO2 have been asked to make a second video, & because we're all completely mad we've agreed! And in true INTRO2 style it would be full of familiar faces.

The song (yet to be named) is to be used on the soundtrack to a feature film, which is being shot in the next couple of months. The video will incorporate the actors from the film, & will be a real James Bond affair!!

If anyone puts a message on the board, asking when the premiere will be, I will personally slap them!!

Although this is just speculation, could this movie be Red Dwarf? That is starting filming in a few months, and the cast have done videos with them before, so it's probable they will again!

Still not seen the Clear video which features Craig Charles and Norman Lovett, but I'm sure it'll be good. Let's hope the Red Dwarf fan's get to sing for Red Dwarf: The Movie! Click here to jump to intro-2's website.

27th June 2003
